PLEASE READ before sending a Demo Package

Whippersnappers is well known for its live entertainment, and its reputation in providing quality entertainment 5 nights per week. At any given time our schedule is set in advance, as much as 6 to 8 months to even a year, with the exception of a select few dates that we reserve for special musical guests, or special events! All Demos will be reviewed; however this is an event that will occur only several times throughout the year. Though we appreciate your excitement in wanting to bring your band to our stage, there are many elements that will be considered before a performance date will be contracted.

Your Package Should Include:
- A CD or DVD of your music. Though some bands spend many hundreds if not thousands on their Demo recordings, sometimes a live recording of a performance can be more influential and captivating.
- Web Site and other promotional internet addresses (My Space, Facebook)
- Band Contact with Phone # and mailing address
- Current Band Members and Bio’s. For instance…We have hired a 7 piece band from their promotional material, and a 5 piece band showed up to play, claiming that we did not specify, nor pay for the full ensemble. Pretty sure way to not be invited back!
- Genre of Music. INCLUDING CURRENT SONGLIST.
- Expected Audience Draw. Please give us an idea of number of people your band will draw to our establishment. (Whippersnappers regulars excluded)
- Current Club Rotation. Tell us where you’re playing regularly now.
- Expected Pay range. Bands will provide their own ‘state of the art’ sound reinforcement. Whippersnappers has minimum however; adequate band lighting. Feel free to bring your own light show. Smoke machines and hazers are welcome.

As mentioned prior, Whippersnappers is very particular in bringing in bands that our customers would appreciate, and return time and again to see. Please have a look at our current entertainment rotation and make a determination as to whether your band would truly fit our demographic target clientele.

A Definite PLUS!

From our entertainment schedule you will see that we host a ‘Monday Night Jam’. It just so happens that on Monday nights, two of the decision makers in the band selection process are working! If your band desires to play at Whippersnappers, there is no better way to get the attention of the establishment staff and patrons then to round up the band and come in to play a few songs for us!

Here are some of the criteria we look for in a band for Whippersnappers

• Selection of Music – Though there are many fabulous musicians in the greater Boston area, the market demand very heavily influences our decision making process. Top 40 Dance and Contemporary Rock are two of the most participated in genres of music by our patrons here at Whippersnappers. If you come out to play for us, please keep that in mind in selecting your songs. Hard Rock bands can be a good draw if the particular band has a proven heavy local draw. R&B/Soul/ Funk (Horn Bands) bands can be very entertaining and also a crowd favorite here at Whippersnappers. Again song selection and wide repertoire will be looked for. Classic Rock bands are by far the most numerous demos we receive on a weekly basis, thereby making the competition very stiff. Tribute bands are welcome to submit packages for us to review. We have had very good response from SOME types of Tributes here at Whips. We have a very diverse customer base, and those bands that meet our other criteria will be able to suit all of our patrons with most if not all of their repertoire if placed strategically into our schedule.

• Stage Presence is most definitely one of the most important factors in our determination of which bands play at Whippersnappers. Bands that entice audience participation and maintain an ENTERTAINMENT factor throughout their performance are some of the most popular bands in our rotation at present.

• Vocal Ability is taken into consideration. There is nothing more noticeable than a singer who shouldn’t be singing, be it lead vocals, or back-up vocalists…enough said.

• Band promotion! It was once said to me “it’s not up to us to bring people to your club…” Au contraire… it is most definitely a team effort. We will do our part through advertisement, onsite and web promotion to build up the crowd that comes in to see your band. Posters that you provide us will be put up well in advance of your band’s performance. We ask that you place us on your current email list so that we may follow your local touring, and fan responses as we’re doing our research. Our email is info@whippersnappersnh.com . “Having been an entertainer myself for in excess of 20 years, I have met and played with many exceptionally talented musicians. If it were based on musicality and ability, and personal preference…my job would truly be easy! The hard fact is that entertainment in a club atmosphere these days is a business. Times aren’t what they used to be and one must be focused on that, in making these very difficult decisions. There are far too many good musicians and bands out there, and only a very limited number of prime performance nights in a month.

Finally, and most important!

Do not persistently call Whippersnappers regarding your band playing here!

This distracts us from our daily operation of the restaurant, and entertaining the customers that are in our establishment right now. I promise you that this is NOT the way to get our attention.
